The Gel-Resolution™, the ASICS shoe series that has been praised for its top performance in stability by tennis players from recreational to the highest level since its introduction in 2007, is now even better.
With upgrades in comfort, stability and support for the foot, the Japanese brand has once again demonstrated its expertise in tennis shoes to the world in the form of the new ASICS Gel-Resolution™ X.
Upgrades
In this article, we will discuss exactly what the upgrades are compared to the previous version and how they affect the playing experience on the court.
Comfort
Let's start with the cushioning. Of course, as the name suggests, ASICS has implemented the characteristic gel cushioning in this new generation of tennis shoes. So no surprises there. However, when we turn to the midsole and the materials used to produce it, we see the first upgrade from the Gel-Resolution 9: Flytefoam Blast+™ ECO has been added. This technology has previously been used in ASICS' running shoes and has been carefully adapted to meet the requirements of tennis. In the case of the Gel-Resolution X, FF Blast+ ECO foam is incorporated into the heel for an extra comfortable feel that lasts throughout play.
Stability
In order to meet and perhaps even exceed the high expectations for stability set by previous generations of ASICS Gel-Resolution, the designers of the Resolution X have further developed the existing Dynawall™ technology. The Dynawall is the outer part of the shoe that contributes to the lateral stability required for the intensive, left-right footwork inherent in tennis. In the case of this latest version of the Resolution, the Dynawall has been extended so that it runs from the outside of the midfoot behind the heel. This extensive reinforcement results in a better enclosed feeling and extra support for the back of your foot.
Support
Continuing with the aspect of support, we zoom in on the new Dynalacing™ technology. This innovation has to do with the enclosure of the midfoot at the lacing system. Where in previous generations of the Gel-Resolution the Dynawrap was used to guarantee the insurance on the top of the foot, when designing the Resolution X, the Japanese brand listened to the feedback of the many users of the eighth and ninth versions of ASICS' stability-oriented tennis shoes and replaced the Dynawrap with Dynalacing. This makes the level of support more adjustable than before. Resulting in a comfortable, personally adjusted fit at the instep, for the ideal amount of support on the tennis court.
The last update that affects the performance of the ASICS Gel-Resolution X compared to the ASICS Gel-Resolution 9 is related to the design of the outsole. This is - unlike its predecessor - completely continuous at the bottom of the latest version. The sole is, as it were, one whole. This allows the entire outsole to make contact with the tennis court, maximizing the amount of grip the shoe offers.
