Luxilon Most Popular on the Pro Tour

Luxilon Most Popular on the Pro Tour

There is a huge range of tennis strings in the world. This often makes it extra difficult for many to make exactly the right choice regarding a string that meets the desired properties.

Luxilon, the most widely used string brand on the professional tour, has achieved this position because of the top quality of the strings they offer. In addition, the Belgian brand tries to make the range as clear as possible for the consumer, so that choosing the right string is facilitated. Below you can read more about the Luxilon range and what the different strings have to offer.

Luxilon, the Most Popular String Brand on Tour
Luxilon Strings: Alu Power, 4G and Element

Luxilon Alu Power

Power & Control

The Alu Power is the most popular string on the ATP and WTA tours. Different variants of this string are used, each with their own characteristics. To achieve the perfect string setup for each individual player. What variants of this silver-colored top quality string are there?

Luxilon Alu Power

This is the original variant of this string. Also known by the former ‘Big Banger’ term that was incorporated in the name. Due to the composition of Co-Polymer Polyester, Fluocarbon Resin and Aluminium fibres, the Luxilon Alu Power offers the excellent combination of power, control and reliability that is so highly valued by tennis players from recreational to the highest professional level.

Luxilon Alu Power Rough

The surface of this string is ‘dented’, which means that instead of the round layout that we know from many other strings, the Luxilon Alu Power Rough has a rough structure. This makes the rough variant more flexible and therefore feels a fraction softer and more forgiving compared to the original. In addition, the rough surface contributes to extra grip on the ball, which can add extra effect to strokes.

Luxilon Alu Power Soft

A softer string, with the same properties as the original Alu Power, that is what Luxilon has achieved with the Alu Power Soft. The softer character of this string provides additional comfort and a refined feel, while maintaining power, control and reliability.

Luxilon 4G

Control & Durability

The 4G is the string specially made for maximum control and optimum tension retention. This string from Luxilon is also popular among tennis players at the highest level. The gold-coloured co-polymer monofilament string is available in the following variants:

Luxilon 4G

This original variant of the Luxilon 4G meets the properties described above. In other words, this version of the 4G offers control over the ball and a relatively long lifespan. Both with regard to tension retention and the (possible) breaking of the string.

Luxilon 4G Rough

Like the rough variant of the Luxilon Alu Power, this one of the 4G also has a dented surface, which gives the string a rough structure. This rough structure in place, provides extra grip on the ball and a more flexible response at impact. In combination with the sturdy construction of the Luxilon 4G, this ensures a versatile string with properties such as control, spin potential and durability.

Luxilon 4G Soft

The Luxilon 4G Soft, as the name suggests, is the softer version of the 4G. This means that extra comfort and feel have been added to the already known properties; control and string durability. An interesting option for players who experience the original Luxilon 4G as a bit too firm.

Luxilon Element

Comfort & Power

The Element has been developed to combine the properties of a monofilament string with optimum comfort and a high power content. By means of the multi-mono technology used in this string, Luxilon offers an option with the Element for players who are looking for the comfort of a multifilament string, with the durability of a soft monofilament string. This string family from the Belgian brand also consists of several variants:

Luxilon Element

This bronze-coloured, soft monofilament string is the original Element from Luxilon. With the characteristics of optimal comfort and a high level of power as you would expect from a multifilament string, while the advantages of a monofilament string, such as extra control, string durability and spin potential are also present.

Luxilon Element Soft

This is a later addition to the Luxilon range. In order to offer an even more comfortable option to players who want to experience the advantages of a monofilament string, but still need a high level of arm-friendliness and access to easily give a lot of speed to the ball, the Luxilon Element Soft was developed.

Which string does your favorite player use?

As discussed above, (variants of) the Luxilon Alu Power and the Luxilon 4G are used a lot by professional tennis players on the ATP and WTA tours. Two of the all-time greats, Roger Federer and Serena Williams, have achieved their victories with Luxilon strings in their rackets. Roger used a combination of natural gut string and the Luxilon Alu Power Rough, where Serena combined the natural gut string with the Luxilon 4G.

But also in today's top tennis, the Alu Power and 4G are preferred by many above all other string options.
