Whether you are looking for precise power, powerful spin, or a game built on control and feel, HEAD offers a racket series to match every playing style. The Austrian brand has been a mainstay on the professional tours for decades, with players including Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner, and Coco Gauff. Below, we explain which HEAD racket series are available and what each one can do for your game.
Powerful or Precise: HEAD’s Racket Series Explained
HEAD divides its rackets into two directions. The Powerful series help you generate ball speed and depth with ease, while the Precise series focus on control and feel. HEAD describes the HEAD Boom as Powerful Touch: a power-oriented racket family that lets you generate speed effortlessly, while still feeling comfortable and forgiving. The HEAD Extreme stands for Powerful Spin and is a true spin racket family. The frame technologies and open string pattern help you put plenty of rotation on the ball, which makes it ideal if you like to play with heavy topspin or other types of spin.
On the precise side, you will find the HEAD Speed. Labeled Precise Power, it’s the versatile all-rounder used by Djokovic and Sinner, with a balanced combination of power and control. Precise Spin is what defines the HEAD Radical: control with plenty of spin potential and a solid feel, perfect for players with a varied game. The HEAD Gravity, which HEAD calls Precise Touch, is even more control-oriented. You get an excellent feel for the ball and can place it exactly where you want, especially if you already generate enough power on your own.
Beyond these five series, HEAD offers two more with a character of their own. The HEAD Prestige is the brand’s classic series. These control-oriented rackets are all about precision and feel, and are best suited to advanced players with well-developed strokes who generate their own power. The new HEAD Squared has the lowest balance point HEAD has ever built into a racket. This makes it extremely maneuverable and arm-friendly, while still delivering easy power.
Which HEAD Racket Is Right for Me?
Within each series, you can choose from several versions, which typically differ in weight, balance, beam width, and head size. As a result, a single series includes rackets from different racket groups. The TOUR and PRO versions weigh 305 grams or more and offer the most stability, for advanced and competitive players with long, full swings. The MP usually weighs around 300 grams and gives many intermediate to advanced players a good balance of maneuverability and stability. The lighter versions, such as the MP L at around 280–285 grams and the MP UL at around 260–265 grams, are highly maneuverable and help you generate racket head speed with ease. That is useful if you are still developing your strokes or have a shorter swing.
