Control, spin, power, or comfort: at Wilson, each racket family stands for a clear characteristic. This gives you an immediate sense of which series might suit your game best. The American brand has been making sporting goods for more than a hundred years and has written tennis history with players including Roger Federer, who played his entire career with Wilson. Below, we explain which Wilson racket series are available and what each one can do for your game.

Blade, Defyer, Ultra, or Clash: Wilson’s Racket Series at a Glance

The Wilson Blade and the Wilson Defyer are currently the two flagships of the Wilson lineup. The Blade stands for control and feel. The relatively flexible frames in this family keep the ball on the strings a fraction longer, so you can place the ball precisely and keep your powerful shots under control. It’s one of the most widely used racket series on the professional tours, and ideal for players who set their own pace. The Defyer is Wilson’s newest series and combines spin with power. It was developed together with tour players, including Holger Rune. The frame technologies give you plenty of racket head speed, stability, and a powerful response, making it easier to hit heavy topspin with real pace.

The Wilson Ultra is built for power. The relatively stiff frames give you easy ball speed and depth, ideal if you could use some extra help generating power. The Wilson Clash is Wilson’s most comfortable series. Its exceptionally flexible frame feels soft and arm-friendly, while still offering a good combination of power and control. That makes the Clash a versatile all-rounder for a wide range of players.

Wilson also offers two series closely tied to Federer. The Wilson RF collection was developed together with him for a versatile, attacking game, combining stability, control, and power. The collection ranges from the heavy RF 01 Pro for advanced players to the lighter RF 01 Future. The Wilson Pro Staff is the brand’s classic series, with which Federer achieved his greatest successes. With a 97 sq in head, available in different weights, and a direct, solid feel, it’s a timeless choice for players with technical strokes.

Which Wilson Racket Is Right for Me?

At Wilson, the model name already tells you a lot about the racket: the number stands for the head size in square inches, as in the Blade 98 or the Ultra 100. Although not every series has exactly the same models, the structure is often similar, so a single series includes rackets from different racket groups. The most demanding versions, such as the Blade 98 or the Defyer 98 Pro, weigh around 305 grams and have a smaller head for extra control and precision. These versions are designed for advanced and competitive players with long, full swings. The standard versions with a 100 sq in head, such as the Blade 100 or the Ultra 100, weigh around 300 grams. For many intermediate to advanced players, that’s the ideal middle ground: enough mass for a solid ball, without the racket feeling heavy in your hand. The L versions at around 280–285 grams and the UL versions at around 260–265 grams are the most maneuverable, helping you generate racket head speed with ease and develop the right technique.
